Three teenage boys sat at a rectangular table just inside the door. The one in the middle smiled and said ‘Hi’, the one on the left took my $5 and the one on the right held up a green Sharpie, it's point down and exposed.
It took me a moment to understand and hold out my hand. The kid made a firm green slash on the back of it which was still vivid the next morning. I thanked him and thought how he must enjoy vandalizing the bodies of the teachers, parents, grand-parents and other students. At his age, I would have.
